The new MUJI store at MOKO New Century Plaza features “distinctive natural wood” as its primary material, with a special wooden screen at the main entrance designed to showcase the MUJI trademark wall. Inside, the ceiling is made of natural wood fiberboard, designed as a suspended grid extending throughout various areas of the store, enhancing the stylish aesthetic while maintaining design cohesion.
In the food area, the backdrop is adorned with three-dimensional patterned wooden strips, which also extend to the left display window, where irregularly arranged wooden boxes showcase products. This design not only conveys a relaxed and fashionable vibe but also adds a sense of dynamism and energy. Another distinctive design concept within the store uses two different shades of natural wood veneer to define spaces: a light oak tone sets a stylish atmosphere in the clothing section, while a dark oak tone conveys authenticity and a lived-in feel in the home goods area, creating varied atmospheres throughout the store.
SPACE JAPAN provided support throughout the entire process, from design detail adjustments and material ordering to on-site supervision and the grand opening.
